#1 breaking into consultancy

Lee Wright

Hi,

I have been working in pharmaceutical management for the past 2 years and previous to that I had predominantly been working in the brewing sector. I really want to break into consultancy but I am not sure how to go about it. I have a degree in Biological Science and I am currently studying for a degree in Psychology, both part time studies.

Can someone help please.

Lee.

Dear Lee. One suggestion, decide area to specialise in. Develop interest. Decide freelance, associate or employee role. Identify company then plan your application (even if not roles available. Basically same template for roles in this profession as when you gained your role in pharmaceuticals.

I left pharmaceuticals and started my own consulting business 15 months ago (could be your second option 'go it alone')

Dear Yemi. Good start. Any practical experience in Management or Consulting - worth letting people know. There is no substitute for applying what you read to real life or finding case studies to write about

Dear Didik, Use all avaialble communication channels to contact firms with whom you would like to work. Some are international. Ththen go and sell youself, network get asked for a meeting to show the added value that you can offer to the firms.
