Currently work for a firm in an internal role and seeking to move onto consultancy externally but struggle as firms require either big 5 experience or mba, any ideas?

What's up Bee

I think that maybe government work would suit you. Or possibly you or your company can offer your services for free, for a small period of time of course, but try a free consultation so companies can see how you work, present, and your level of knowledge capital.

Sincerely,

I tried to do a similar thing whilst working for one of the Big Five in the Public Sector department. I found the experience painful as I had no support from management who had stereotyped me into an internal role. As a result, I had to leave. My advise would be to either move to another department or to another firm within your new role. Good luck.

Get with a few friends and consider starting your own small consulting firm. You will need someone to sell and someone to deliver. You could also seek out small, boutique firms, analyze their offerings, pick the 2 that you are attracted to the most, go and tell them so, and see what opportunities or needs they have. Your initiative and knowledge will go along way to demonstrate your capabilities and potential. Good luck.
