What 2 do after 4 years in datawarehouse and business intelligence

I've been working in a small consulting firm in Italy, now acquired by Deloitte&Touche, for the past 4 years. The business was datawarehouse and business intelligence and I've been in every role (analyst, implementator/programmer, team leader, project manager) through all the steps of the projects. At the present moment I don't see any chances ov career advancement here and I was considering about applying for another consulting firm (first doubt : big or small ?) or going for a career change and trying strategy (e.g. McKinsey). What would you suggest?

Hi! A word of caution - strategy consulting throughout Europe is in a really rocky state. Even IF you manage to secure a new role as a strat consultant, you risk being let go if the situation doesn't pick up for them in the next 6 months.... and I think finding a strat job will prove pretty tough anyway. I would be inclined to stick out you current consulting job, or switch to a niche consulting firm that is thriving in the current market. Deloitte is a pretty good name to have on your CV when the market does come good again - so don't give this up unless you get a really good new role. All the best, Hilary
