Hi

I would like to become a consultant. I just finished my master degree with background in both mobile communication and embedded systems. Has anyone got any tips on getting into the field? Websites I can visit? Companys I can contact?

Any info will be of great help.

Thanks

Hi There, I posted a similar question just before Christmas and had no response, looks to me like these consultants aren't that helpful.....probably dont want you nicking their work...Anyhow all I have come up with is regestering with someone like ADTI where you pay them £6K they give you some training and you can go on their books. You still have to find the work and then you pay them a percentage. Similar set uo with Navisys but fee is nearer £15K. Thats about as far as I got, so maybe I am not cut out for the job...Looks to me like if you can't get a job in consulting then you wont be a consultant, if you get my drift...

Rgds

Andy

You mention that you've just finished your masters - so are you after an entry level consulting role ie. grad scheme? If so there are lots of great schemes out there but also lots of competition. you mention your interest in mobile communication - is this the field you want to go into or do you want to start in consulting as a generalist? Seeing as you've found this website you're not doing bad - this should give you a feel for the sort of companies out there and what they are offering. I'd just recommend going to the individual websites of the firms you're interested in and finding out about their schemes. I'd also recommend getting in contact with a recruitment agency - ie. BLT to see if you can get on their books. Happy job hunting!!
