Paying back Accenture sign-on bonus

Hello,

As anyone who has worked for accenture will know, all new grads are given a "golden handcuffs" sign on bonus in the form of 6k when you join and another 4k at then end of your first year.

This is given with the caveat that if you leave before the end of the year you have to pay back a proportion of that year's bonus (i.e. 1/12 per month)

I have heard anecdotal evidence that in practice they don't bother asking for the money back - just wondering if anyone out there could confirm or deny this?

A colleague of mine that recently left the company had it taken out of his last pay packet.

They did this without informing him. Not sure what would happen of your monthly pay packet did not cover the entire amount.

you pay everything back, PLUS tax. rumours are rubbish- they absorb basically your last pay check plus more.

Thanks for your responses. It did sound a bit far-fetched that people were getting away with it!

Back to work then...

Yes, unfortunately it's not a discretionary thing - it's hardcoded into payroll process - so even if you have a mate in HR the deduction is made by a computer
