I have progressed through my organisation from engineer to manager, with 3 years experiance. During which I have obtained a post graduate diploma in management studies and I am set to start an MBA this month. I am however interested in consultany and would appreciate comments on the best way ahead and the expected starting salary for a post outside of London.

I am in much the same situation, except with IT experience as well.

I have a BEng and MSC in production engineering and about half way through an MBA. I could do some NCPs or an MSCD (currently I am working as a VB SQL server developer) but I really want to get into ERP consultancy so I do not want to such a specific exam.

So how do you get that vital first foot in the door?
