'Doing' is better than 'Consulting'

Alessandro

After quite some time within strategy consulting, I find drawing colourful powerpoints and holding nice speeches less appealing than I used to. I feel more like getting hands on i.e. really doing the things we come up with and 'physically' turning ideas into reality.

Therefore, I'd be very thankful if you could let me know of any firms actually DOING things like turnaround management! Also, your thoughts would be very much appreciated!

Lots of boutiques in this space, but the top 5 turnaround firms in order of "prestige" (my subjective opinion):

1. AlixPartners (the top dog in the turnaround industry...very tough to get, you gotta know someone inside)

2. Alvarez & Marsal

3. Kroll Zolfo Cooper

4. Huron

5. FTI
