Interested to know what firm you work for and what BS you went to? Im impressed by your approach, knowledge and level of thinking..

It was decent of him to offer us his sample of interactive consulting.
Were you not impressed, in any way, by his amusing choice of words?!?
|
He does think a lot of himself, but it's very possible he has reason to. He gives good advice, methinks.
What 'sample' is that you speak of M?

I went to Bath - and now I work for a big 4 as a senior consultant ( not pwc)
why is this important?
|
<chuckle> Some say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I guess when people start pretending to me, I must have achieved some sort of cult status.
Bath? The only "bath" I know of is what I do when I wake up every morning in my hotel room before heading to the client's office.
Sorry, I'd rather not say who I work for. I've revealed salary info in a previous post...don't want to get into trouble with my Firm. But it should be fairly obvoius by now anyway.
|
Beng - stop showing off. I work with you - and although we do work for the 'Firm' there is one major difference: you are useless and the rest are not.
Stop wasting your time on this site and get back to finding an engagement.

Have you considered just trying 5 minutes in a cold shower on a Monday morning?
It gives you more time to smell the coffee.
|
T,
Coming from someone who's also browsing this Board, your admonition seems quite hypocritical. And to make an assumption that someone is useless without knowing who they are...I hope that's not how you operate in client situations.
I highly doubt we work for the same firm...someone who did would have come up with a smarter wisecrack. I suggest you slither back to KPMG or EY where you belong.

Beng,
Whatever slight credibility you had before has totaly vanished. You take time out of your day to come insult poor graduates that look to your words of wisdom with admiration and respect.
Your sarcasm and futile attempt of satire denote a miserable man whom has to look down on others just to pick himself up in the moment.
And, my friend - you are no tier 1 category. I for one can guarantee that. Dont destroy this forum - spare us your ignorance and stay away.

John Peters, your grasp of the English language hardly lends authority to your claim to be able to guarantee to which "category" Beng belongs.
I don't know Beng, but I do know that people such as myself often ask for personal opinions on this site. That Beng should take the time to give his is, in my opinion, commendable. I fail to see why you feel compelled to be so aggressive towards him.

I'm a grad looking to enter consultancy. I find this forum useful, particularly the diverse opinions and some seemingly insightful comments from those like Beng, VI, Paul and many others.
Unless asked for I don't think a character assassination is required (for example from a grad). This thread has turned into a chastisement of someone who has said, at least I think, some very useful things. Why don't we stop this and return to assessing what people say about consulting?
|
"Can't we all just get along?"
I agree with vodka and james. I am one of the many people quietly reading through this Board, looking for insights into the consulting industry with the hopes of becoming one.
Beng, while being egotistical and full of himself, is one of the few that in my opnion, has offered truly enlightening and interesting insights on what goes behind the hallowed halls of top strat firms. The verbal assaults by Tom Dick Harry and John Peters are totally uncalled for. In particular, I don't recall ever seeing them give advice to those of us who ask. At least Beng is trying. What have you guys done to educate or enlighten us "ignorant" ones?
He has my respect. and he probably deserves to be full of himself.

... time gentlemen please....
on this conversation..
|
John Peters,
I posted your phone # on a few websites...hopefully you'll start getting telemarketing calls from Russia at weird hours of the day...
|
Beng, I really like to read your posts because they (almost) always contain good insights and sound advice. You add value to this forum so please do not be discouraged by uncalled for criticism.
Many thanks for your interesting posts, please keep them coming.
Good Luck.

Thanks for the kind words. It certainly feeds my "big ego" to know that I'm helping and doing some good in this forum.
And no worries about getting further responses from me. This forum is simply a great relief valve. If I'm having a bad moment or just need a quick break at work, all I need to do is log in this forum, rip a few heads off, then I'm all fine and dandy.
