Does working public mean staying public post consulting

#1 Does working public mean staying public post consulting

I work for a major 'Big 4' consultancy and our revenue is driven 62% by public sector work despite 'efforts' at board level to capture some of the private sector market. Is this split common scross all major full services firms and does working in the public sector to gain consulting experience limit you somewhat when you try to get into private 'industry.'

Thanks in advance
