Career Mentoring

Question

As most of you would know, most consulting firms have an official mentoring structure.

My question is, would you be willing to have the same mentor as another consultant that is of the same grade as you? Would you feel uncomfortable and find someone else? What if that mentor knows the other person (i.e. the consultant on the same grade) better than he/she knows you? Would that create an issue in the future in terms of conflict of interest? Would you trust the mentor less? What if the mentor is someone who is supposedly one of the better mentors out there?

What should I really consider when finding a mentor?

Lots of questions but any advice would be appreciated!
