Sales Director Vs Strat Consulting

#1 Sales Director Vs Strat Consulting

Dear all, I have just been promoted to Sales Director in a Multinational company but, at the same time, received offers from McKinsey and BCG. What is your opinion? should I go to the Consulting job or should I stay in sales? which one do you think will be more valuable to my CV in the middle term? thanks for the answers.

I think it depends on your abilities and preferences. There is a big difference between successful salespeople, managers, and consultants, although you need good communication skills to succeed in any of these roles. Compared to sales, consulting requires more analytical and number crunching skills as opposed to presistance, "thinking on your feet", nice personality, and passion for ££.

Are you looking for a satisying short term move or a long term career? And are these steps on the way to the board, or to money? You'll make more in the medium term in consulting... but if you're going for the board, you are probably better off climbing in industry for a little while longer.
