Tony - Offensive advert on Top-Consultant.

Go to Career Opportunities, do a keyword search for "Project Management".

Look at the third advert down on the left hand side, and you'll see an advert stating "The NHS is in the s**t. Can you rescue it?"

Now, this may be true, but surely this kind of wideboy advertising belittles, nay sullies, top-consultant?

Thoughts?

catch a grip

Last week's BBC Panorama was about this very issue - NHS mis-management.

The advert is not offensive, because who is there to offend? Certainly not the nursing staff who would whole-heartedly agree - or perhaps you only care about the top brass government folk, who's inadequecy the advert is attacking.

NHS mis-management is due in part to the NHS's entanglement with politics. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy - down to more than one person or group's actions, and we can all stand back and look at it and say "what a load of s**t".

It "belittles, nay sullies" top-consultant how exactly?

Offense is subjective, but I don't find it offensive. Perhaps my understanding of the colloquial expression "wideboy" is different to yours, but I also do not see the connection there.

if it sullies anyone it is the agency BLT and the person who wrote the line hoping to attract professionals. I don't find it offensive as such but wouldn't consider applying to a company that advertises for new positions like that.

The advert is in poor taste, yes. But offensive? I don't think so. It just illustrates the idiocy of the person who wrote it. Now how many idiots are there in the world...?

Tony Restell (Top-Consultant.com)

Morning all. We did see this ad when it was posted and did a quick show of hands of who thought it was offensive and who thought it was merely making a statement to stand out. We concluded the latter - and I'm guessing based on the other responses here that most are not offended by this. Thank you for bringing to our attention though - we do monitor jobs & forum postings and had already reviewed this one when it was loaded. Tony

You guys all need to chill out, there's nothing overly offensive about the statement. In fact, it should be applauded. If people came out and spoke their minds once in a while, without worrying about offending the PC Brigade, the world would be a better place...
