Natasha J.

Hi,

I need to gain some consultancy experience as my first step towards management consultancy. Not sure where to start.

education and work experience:-

MBA- Global Marketing Strategy- 2001 Cardiff Business School.

Currently in a business development role (sales, client-facing) with a leading global IT organisation.

I do not qualify for a lot of the grad programmes as I am not a recent graduate. Where can I start? Small firms? Junior roles? Please advise. Thanks

Natasha, I'd say you stand a better chance with smaller firms that have less structured hiring processes. They may consider each case carefully rather than having a list of requirements you can't get past.

Another option is to try some contract work, if you find a relatively simple assignment (based on your skills/abilities/languages etc.), many companies will need someone temporarily and asap.

Good luck.
