Cap Gemini Culture COMPARED to Accenture

me

Guys,

I was wondering what the work/life balance (esp. hours) / people / career progression / training is like at CG compared to ACN.

Also is CG still feeling the negative affects of the merger of CG and EY in 2002? As i understand morale was very low at that time (lots of layoffs)?

Cheers!!!!

Far as I'm aware, the most aggrieved people about the CG/EY have voted with their feet and left or got used to it and piped down somewhat. I don't think it'll be a issue you feel much if you're a new joiner.

Comparing the consulting divisions only, CG/ACN both work hard (dependant on project demands of course). CG has better people from those I've met - more intelligent, adaptable, better interpersonal skills. ACN people are also fairly smart, but can be a bit narrow-minded (in terms of their professional knowledge, and culturally). ACN has excellent technical training, while CG has more human capital to draw on for on the job training. Both CG and ACN have big support networks as you'd expect and both have fixed progression paths.

The Spanish video link that was posted on this forum a few weeks ago is a good insight to ACN culture. By contrast, CG is more concerned with the way you go about doing work being as important as the work itself.

Cap

As far as I know, Accenture mentality is rather "Go Up or Get Out". Cap is a floppy organisation and chances to get promoted are really thin, unless your VP is a friend. Also, you have one chance out two to end up working for a public service client: not really fun!

Oooh, someone's sore about missing the last promotion round! Maybe your English was holding you back...

We have a lot of public sector work but that seems to be the case across the industry at the moment. We work long hours, but there's loads of socials as well. Training opportunities are high-quality (we've got our own Chateau in Northern France) and varied, and in terms of culture the hierarchy is fairly loose, i.e. you get a lot of responsibility early on and you can talk to senior staff fairly informally. Finally, promotion opportunities are excellent.
