How many were made redundant?

Can people in the 'big' consultancies let me know how many people they made redundant last year? The information will not be attributed so by all means be anonymous. Email me direct (jsmithresearch@genie.co.uk) if you don’t want to publish here. It’s for some statistical research. Many thanks.

Cap Gemini Ernst & Young had some initial redundancies in June last year which were mainly organisational overlap (not sure how many), then asked for 750 voluntary redundancies in December 2001. They didn't get 750 voluntary so had to make a number of compulsory ones in January 2002

CGEY made 280 (approx) people redundant in the UK in June last year. They then went on to make a further 900 redundant in January this year (they had originally asked for 750 voluntary redundancies - over 1000 applied but they found they needed quite a few of them!).

Being made redundant from CGEY was a bizarre experience, especially since I found that my skillset was in great demand within the company! The main problem is that CGEY was in total disarray following the E&Y merger. In the year that I was with them I had three Managers and two mentors (I met two of them..).

When I was made redundant my manager didn't even know!!
