Breaking into Consultancy From Academe

Matt

Hello,

Just need some sound advice. I have a doctorate in International Business and teach marketing and management courses for a number of Universities in the US. I intend to break into the Consultancy industry in the US. With no practical experience, what advice do you have for me? Specifically, what areas would you suggest I go into and how do I do it? What do I need?

er, do you teach market entry strategies?? :)

Seriously, though, focus on the obvious things: what do you know? (marketing, by your own suggestion) and who do you know? It's a relationship business at heart, so how can you leverage your network?
