This is my first time writing for the company I'm working for and I wanted to get some feedback on whether this is good enough to put on to the company's professional pages.

I suggest not. This kind of content adds nothing to your business as a brand, in fact cheapens it because:
1. it's genetic
2.the tone is patronising (your potential customers are likely to know more about how to manage successfully than most of your colleagues in fairness if they're senior enough to be buying consulting services).
3. this stuff gets published ad nauseum on linkedin every 10 minutes
4. It tries to solve a problem which no one asked you to solve (read the copy again...)

To be honest, in a company where the President and Founder says - on the team page - "I give 100% credit of where I am to Jesus... God had a plan for me" you can pretty much write whatever you want. If I know I'm dealing with a bunch of god-squadders with an un-questioning, doe-eyed love of a make-believe man in the sky then what you guys have to say on management is really the least of my concern...

Arby don't knock it - they may be on to something...
Project behind deadline? God wills it.
Client thinks your fees are too high? Find a nice quote in the bible about it
Behind the curve in service offerings? Now we can fix your business..through EXORCISM. Yes the Devil is at work and disrupting your SAP supply chain implementation.
Forget Prince2, now you can get certification in Pray2.
And not forgetting the new team page...I give 100% credit of where I am today to Jesus. Cause Jesus gave me a company of underpaid workers to amass wealth for me.

Maybe it's best you kept your opinions to yourself, or voice them in a way that is not so judgey.
|
I’m truly sorry if I offended you little snowflake. Does this mean I don’t get into heaven? Mars and I will have to grill steaks in hell then....
|
I'm sorry Stalin, I didn't realise the thought police were on patrol here.
You are right, because someone may have believe that there is a "make belief man in the sky", then that negates anything they may have to say on management.
In fact he shouldn't be able to have any professional opinion, or any opinion at all for that matter. He should be stripped of the right to vote and maybe even procreate. Let's make him wear distinctive clothing so everyone can be warned of his craziness. Even better, would moving him to the ghettos so they can be out of sight be going too far? Or not far enough?
In the meantime, let's brainstorm some final solution concepts, put it into a ppt, and send it off to mars so you can have a framework for discussion when you initiate executive buy in.

History shows us this is the modus operandi of the religious not the unreligious.

Hey Mars
Wasn't Mars a God in ancient Rome - God of War, second only to Jupiter :-) ?
Guess the learning here was Rome wasn't built in a day, where as JMS strategy consulting with the help of the odd miracle and the evidence posted clearly was.

Call me rational, but if I know someone believes in fairies, I’m likely to think a bit less of them and their opinions. If someone believes in hobgoblins, the same. Santa Claus, the Boogey Man, hairy armpits on a woman that are attractive, all the same.
You, sir, if you tell me you’re religious - might just as well be telling me “I have a mental illness”. You’re not to be trusted in business, in life and goddammit with my daughter!
|
Ironically, mental illness has, throughout history in the West and still today in less developed parts of the world, been considered symptomatic of 'demonic possession'.
The irony is that schizophrenia is caused by an inability for the human brain to distinguish that certain 'voices' are in fact just thoughts - in schizophrenics these thoughts are experienced as voices - they cannot determine that these came from themselves.
Bit like believing in God really. Talking to yourself and convincing yourself your own thoughts are an external voice.

" ...and goddammit with my daughter... "
Oh, if only I had a penny for each and every time someone said this to me...

Mars,
Remember that old joke? If you 'talk' to 'God', you are praying. When 'God' talk back to you? LOL! You're effin crazy! :-)

"Call me rational, but if I know someone believes in fairies, I’m likely to think a bit less of them and their opinions."
Rational??? I'd call you prejudiced!!! To essentially state that a person who staunchly believes is whatever religion that person chooses is incapable of structured thought/opinion/analysis/etc. smacks of prejudice. Even if it's " ...think less... ", it's still not on. You are implying that a person's faith impacts work, which is simply wrong.
I just wish people would be more like DC and myself. We do not discriminate. Here's an example. We date all women! A question? Are you alluding that my worship of women makes me less of a consultant?

LOL! This really made me laugh... and am still laughing :D
Read somewhere that 50% of people in the UK say that they are Christian. So, according to Arby's "rational" thought process, this 50% can be ignored as Arby "thinks less" of them. ROFL! Talk about one fell swoop.
Can I apply this is a different way? Very pertinent actually. We all know that Liverpool supporters always talk about 'next season'. In fact, NEXT SEASON is the new anthem at Anfield. Talking about Pool winning the league is sheer madness.
So... do we ignore (and ridicule?) the views of Liverpool supporters? Hahahahahahaha!
P.S. DC, where are you? I took up a contract with D out in Asia and after August break, will be back there. Come join me!
|
Can someone please reply to Camster? That's 4 posts in a row now and I think he's getting lonely...
|
As expected - so true to form. LOL!
|
Hi Camster
Currently I'm in the North on a government contract, but funnily enough waiting to hear whether I have been successful for one in Middle East - keen to get away from where I am :-)
Lucky you on the Asia role - to be honest would come and join you now I have a new found freedom on the woman front. In fact it would save me the hours swiping left at night lol !

Hi DC
I remember that you have done some TMT stuff. Since can't PM, do you want to create a random email account? Something like Arby_Is_A_Tool@yahoo.com? Will then message you.

Hi Camster
