Networking at company conferences

Whizz

Hi All,

A bit of a strange question but thought I'd try and pick the brains of every-one on here regarding networking at company conferences as a junior employee.

I'm a relatively junior consultant at a firm and have only recently joined. I have been asked to help out at a marketing event next week with a large amount of VPs / 'C' suite etc attending.

The team is keen for us all to network at breaks, something that I'm more than happy to do but have never really done before. Any advice on things to talk about / how to create a good impression?

Thanks,

W

Ask people about themselves, their role and their company. It helps if you do some research about who you might bump into, and have an opinion. Listen a lot, be interested.

What are they excited about, what's the market like, where do they see the major changes in the next 5 years?

But remember it's not an interview, don't just attack them with questions. Talk to them like you would an interesting man or woman at a party, just don't kiss them!
